Day 1

Made it to Cartagena. Got in a taxi and made it to the hostel. Relief.

If you have ever been to San Juan, Puerto Rico, then Cartagena is somewhat like that, but bigger, prettier and where coffee runs wild.

Met a girl from Hong Kong who has been traveling on her own since February and doesn´t really know Spanish. So, it´s possible!

Step 1

Quit the job. Done.

Quite anti-climatic if you ask me. No one begging me to stay. No yelling. No papers being thrown out of shock. Blah. Nothing like the movies.

So, when you quit your job to travel the world, don't be afraid. Don't be nervous because it happens all the time. And what better reason than to travel?

A play by play (something to this effect):
me: Hey Boss, do you have a few minutes? (enter conference room)
me: So, Boss...
boss: Yes, Tawny?
me: I would like to give me 2 weeks notice.
boss: Ok.
me: Here is my resignation letter.
boss: Already?

Some other words were exchanged, but the whole "quitting the job" ordeal was over within 5 minutes. And what was I so nervous about? Not worth losing sleep over.
